RETRO POP Magazine Issue 25 | March 2024 Bananarama

The numbers speak for themselves: over 30 million records sold… 32 UK Top 40 hits… four US Top 10 hits (including the No. 1 Venus)... Bananarama are a true force of nature!

Returning to the cover of RETROPOP to celebrate the release of their 40th anniversary LP, ‘Glorious: The Ultimate Collection’, Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward talk us through the career-spanning retrospective - which revisits their ‘80s classics while also placing the spotlight on their phenomenal years as a duo - and, four decades in, prove life in the world’s best girl group is as fun as it ever was.

This month, we chat with ‘90s dance icon Rozalla, who returns with her epic new album, ‘Turn On The Light’, along with Hue & Cry who are celebrating 40 years of hits, and Bright Light Bright Light, whose latest record, ‘Enjoy Youth’, is out in the spring and is simply joyous.

We also revisit Lily Allen’s classic second album, ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’, as it turns 15, go through Kaiser Chiefs’ ‘Easy Eighth Album’ with Ricky Wilson himself, and celebrate Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s chart renaissance with a selection of hits from across the years that have been given a boost after appearing on screen.
