Hot Press is publishing a special edition of the magazine in commemoration of the life and work of Sinead O’Connor.
Sinead O’Connor died at her home in London last week, sending shock waves through the community in Ireland – and among friends, musicians and fans across the world.
“Sinead was one of the most important Irish artists of the past 50 years,” Hot Press editor Niall Stokes says. “She was a singer, songwriter and performer of transcendent ability and huge emotional range and depth. Her voice was an amazing instrument, capable of moving from a whisper to a banshee wail, traversing the full spectrum of where the human spirit can take us. Her music made an enormous impact, inspiring people and touching so many of them to the very core. Her extraordinary legacy demands that we mark it in an appropriate way.”
The special Sinead O’Connor issue will include crucial interviews with Sinead from the Hot Press Archive, marvellous pictures, the late Hot Press great Bill Graham on Sinead (from the Hot Press archives) – and many more artists, musicians and writers reflecting on the power of Sinead’s work, and the powerful influence her life and her art, had on Ireland and on music.
All of that – and a whole lot more besides – will be celebrated in what will be a publication to treasure for anyone who was ever touched by Sinead O’Connor or moved by her music. (Special note: this is not the final cover of our special tribute issue )...
