Invited into his West London studio, CLASH pored over Bryan Ferry’s solo archive ahead of a lavish box set release, one that attempts to distil five decades of solo creativity. With his blue eyes shimmering in the afternoon light, he looked back on a lifetime of work, moving from his boyhood job as a tailor’s assistant past his international jet-setting peak to the genial elder-statesman of British music.

Humble, and frank, he remains every bit the icon. As he puts it: “It’s not a job, it’s a life.”
